The Good Friday edition of the Friday Funk features beef, drama, and a lot of talent for the long weekend…

The Weeknd – My Dear Melancholy,

Back in his zone, the Weeknd drops a 6 track EP full of heart breaks and dark takes. Rumor has it there may be more to come as some fans have hinted at the fact the title seems like an introduction to a letter, but take that with a grain of salt.

Cardi B – Be Careful

Cardi B’s latest single is the set up for her new album dropping April 6th. It’s a new lane that we haven’t seen Cardi in so reception by the masses has been lukewarm.

Royce Da 5’9 – Boblo Boat (Feat. J Cole)

Fresh off his lyrical hit album, PRhyme 2, Royce drops the first single for his upcoming project Book of Ryan (due April 6th). On it he recruits the talents of the elusive artist, J. Cole, who not only serves up a cold verse, but directs the video as well.

DJ Esco & Future – Kolorblind

Esco and Future team up for their second joint project giving us 11 tracks to dive into from the duo. Esco got real groovy with the beat on Code of Honor, so it’s only right that he enlist the grooviest rapper in the game: ScHoolBoy Q. Who knew he’d be the complimentary pea to Future and Esco’s pod.

Young MA – Praktice

Don’t call it a comeback because she never left. Young MA took a slight break to work on her grind which she emphasizes in this new song Praktice.

Trouble – Bring It Back (Feat. Drake)

The Atlanta rapper recently got in some Trouble as he did a two month bid for some drug possession charges. But he didn’t let that stop him from his grind as he released his album Edgewood. Here’s the movie of his hit single on an awkward beat with the boy Drake.

Eric Bellinger – YIKES

Ladies and gentleman we’ve got some R&Beef. In one corner we’ve got LA artist and Grammy award winner Eric Bellinger, going up against Toronto artist and Juno award winner Tory Lanez. Bellinger has thrown the first punch with his track YIKES in which he raps about the issues he’s had with Tory Lanez’s behaviour and recent shots sent on his album and in interviews. Bellinger gets on Tory’s Hate To Say beat, off his latest album, and delivers a flawless diss record.

Jhené Aiko – Never Call Me (Feat. Kurupt)

Jhené was recently in the thick of some allegations that turned out to be fabricated by the internet about her tattoo’d love Big Sean. On Never Call Me she gets in her love zone and accompanies it with a cool community video shot in LA’s Slauson Hills.

PARTYNEXTDOOR – Don’t Wait On My Love

DAAAAAAAMN PARTY where’d you make this one? PND’s been awfully quiet as of late, but he really flexes his range and style on this new song. It’s a leak so we have no idea if this off an upcoming project or a throwaway, either way it’s a nice tune.

Future – Absolutely Goin Brazy

It’s no surprise Future’s going brazy after he graced King’s Dead with “la di da di da, slob on mi nob”. Making another appearance on this week’s Friday Funk,  Future gets introspective about his lifestyle. And with three releases this week, it looks like we’ll soon be getting a project.

Zaytoven – Designer Remix (Feat. Lil Pump, Rich The Kid & Blac Youngsta)

The ever talented Zaytoven recruits newly signed but possibly soon to be broke, Lil Pump, beefing with Lil Uzi; Rich The Kid, and Internet sensation, Blac Youngsta, for the Designer remix.
