Last night Will Smith brought relevancy back to the Oscars with an iconic slap and the internet took no time at all to hit back with the funniest memes.
Last night the Oscars regained some of it’s relevancy after video surfaced of Will Smith getting on stage and delivering one of the most poignant slaps across the face of comedian Chris Rock. Originally, it was unclear what caused the provocation, but the reason seems to be that Smith took offence to a joke Rock made in regards to his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her alopecia condition which causes hair loss across one’s scalp or body.
Rock was somehow surprised by the act, while Smith was visibly upset and was heard yelling, “keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth!” The two shared some words after the incident, but nothing escalated further.
Smith took home the academy award for best actor and was seen celebrating ceremoniously afterwards. Rock and Smith have since reconciled over the matter.
This is not the first time Will and Jada Smith have made headlines across the internet. The Smiths’ relationship has been a major story over the past two years when it was revealed that Jada had an “entanglement” with singer August Alsina.
