After the success of his debut album, Luv Is Rage 2, and with over a billion streams on his hit single XO Tour Life; Lil Uzi vert has been unable to release his upcoming album Eternal Atake despite large anticipation from fans.

It’s unclear what caused the stoppage in Uzi’s career, but Uzi has been very vocal in his holdout, stating that his label; Generation Now run by DJ Drama and Don Cannon, have been holding him back from releasing it. Uzi’s gone so far as to threaten retirement and at one point contemplated leaking the album.

Moreover, Uzi made a claim via Instagram, that his album is being held because he hung out with his boss’ girlfriend. There is no confirmation as to whether that issue is what led to the album being held back, but it’s clear there are some internal issues between the label and Uzi.

However, it does appear that Uzi may be closer to releasing Eternal Atake thanks to the Godfather of Hip-Hop: Jay Z. Earlier this week Roc Nation announced that it has signed Lil Uzi Vert as a managed client.

The hope here is that Roc Nation can negotiate with Generation Now and come to some conclusion in order to get Uzi’s music out. Although, this signing comes at a cost for the amount of money Uzi will make on his future music.

Rumours have also circulated that Uzi is feeling immense pressure following his debut album’s success, and the label’s holdout is a scapegoat for his fears.

In the midst of all this, Uzi released a new song on March 28th titled Free Uzi; which garnered a lot of praise from fans, but has since been pulled off all streaming services by his label. This story will be an on-going battle until both parties are satisfied, but until then fans can only hope for his new album and enjoy the song.
