A bit of a slow week, but that can never stop the funk. Here’s the best of what dropped this week:
After breaking into stardom and making some very controversial statements in the hip-hop world, Post Malone delivers his second studio album Beer Bong & Bentleys and will try to capture success once again.
Stargate, a production group, recruit some heavy hitters in 21 Savage, PND, and Murda Beatz for their single 1Night and it looks like they’ve got a hit on their hands. Despite stylistic differences, it works.
Janelle Monae releases her much anticipated third studio album: Dirty Computer. Her hit single was Make Me Feel
Much like 2017, it seems like everyone is dropping this year as well. Tee Grizzley is gearing up for his May 11th release of his album Activated. On 2 Vaults he gets in braggadocious bag and flaunts how much he’s stacked. Yachty’s verse sounds a bit disinterested, but it’s not out of place.
Mya has been a veteran on the R&B scene and it looks like she’s not stopping anytime soon. Her voice has adapted well to new sounds and she proves that on her latest album T.K.O. Peep this hit Open with GoldLink.
Remy Ma is another veteran who’s also looking to adapt to the new wave. On her latest single Company, she switches up the style and enlists new to the game, A Boogie, to handle the hook. It’s a fresh take, but I’m not sure how well it will stick.
With the first round of the NBA Playoffs underway, we’ve seen some great series early on, and Red Cafe wants to show off how he can still ball with his song Playoffs. Fabolous adds his repertoire of bars as well.
Never Broke Again Youngboy aka NBA Youngboy hits that old school southern flavour and bodies his new track Get You Killed. Big nostalgic vibes on this one.
4/20 ain’t stop for Eric Bellinger. Staring at the Ceiling is a chill smoker’s tune after he’s spent the night with his girl. Dom Kennedy, who’s been a ghost in the game for some time, makes a guest appearance with a tame verse.
The Who Run It challenge is still very much a live. This time Rich The Kid and Blac Youngsta bring their talents to the challenge, but not without some shots directed at Lil Uzi Vert. The on going beef between Rich and Uzi doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
