It’s Friday, so what better way to kick off the weekend than to listen to some of the latest vibes.
Jeremih – Chocolate Box EP
Jeremih came back on scene with a four song EP that showed off his vocal range and musical versatility. It’s been in my rotation the whole week. Check it out yourself and peep my piece on it here.
Wale – It’s Complicated EP
The newly and highly touted free agent Wale got out of his latest contract with Atlantic Records and got back to his roots on this four song EP about relationships. It’s a solid outing from one of Hip-Hop’s most underrated.
DJ Premier & Royce Da 5’9 – PRhyme 2
What happens when you take one of the best lyricists and stick him with one of the greatest DJs for an entire album? This. Premier and Royce get back together for 16 songs on their second project Phyrme2.
Rich Homie Quan – Rich As In Spirit
We haven’t heard this name in YEARS. Rich Homie Quan has had some issues with his label, but he’s managed to get his situation sorted out. After a strong start in Hip-Hop, the Atlanta artist cooled down due to the contract negotiations, but he’s back under a new label, and it’s sounding like he never left.
XXXTentacion – “?”
After making a name for himself in this crazy age of the internet, and delivering a surprisingly good first project, XXX is back with his second body of work. His single SAD!, off this new project, has been well received.
Trae Tha Truth – Hometown Hero
Trae Tha Truth has always done a lot for his community, but he took it to another level after Hurricane Harvey ravaged Houston. He’s been out building roofs and giving aid for folks who need it. Here’s his latest project Hometown Hero.
Kash Doll – Brat Mail
Kash Doll is an up-and-coming female rapper from Detroit. She released this mixtape on her birthday which also happens to be the day of her father’s passing. I don’t know much about her, but I know her verse on Big Seans’ song So Good was heat so her mixtape should be worth a listen.
Nav – Freshman List (Single)
The self proclaimed “Brown Boy” from the “6ix” recently announced plans to drop a new album this year and is also about embark on a tour with Toronto artists 88Glam. Here’s the first single of his new project.
