I haven’t been a fan of Valentine’s Day since I stopped getting chocolate from every girl in grade school or since Ralph got his heart broken by Lisa. However, I am a fan of great R&B music and these tracks ride on love day; so whether or not you got a significant other, or they’re merely imaginary, here’s five R&B songs for your Valentine’s Day shenanigans.
A product of the 6ix, K. Forest is an up and coming artist with a style that resembles PARTYNEXTDOOR and Bryson Tiller. Soigne is 6th track off Forest’s Forest Fire album. K. bodies the intro with bars about 2002 and then seamlessly glides into the hook with smooth vocals. Pop this in the AUX cord on your ride back from your $200 date.
The Dream just knows how to make hits. This song is oil on hardwood smooth. It’s beauty lies in the simplicity of the lyrics and the story being told. The song’s about his ex, but it makes this list because the hook should fire up your desire.
Breezy x Bryson is a deadly combination. Chris Brown shows us why he’s still one of the top artists in the industry with his verse on this. This track is all about “that” girl, much like Valentine’s Day is so proceed with caution. Bryson’s verse could’ve been better, but I ain’t mad when his part hits. Keep You In Mind will set the mood for the end of your night though.
Syd’s album [Fin] just came out and it’s been on repeat since I downloaded it. I’ll let y’all find out why…
Maaaaaan Marsha fucked me all the way up with this one. Her vocals are godly on So Good and completely out of this world. You gotta play this in the bedroom Valentine’s night but don’t blame me if you come to find yourself with a Scorpio in nine months.
