After breaking his jaw and spending the next 10 months rehabbing his motor functions, Nova is back doing what he loves most: creating.
“I didn’t feel as confident working on music, creating visuals or performing live,” he says. “I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of art and technology, however my recent experience inspired me to innovate and tap into new ways to connect with my listeners.”
That new connection comes in the form of an A.I. generated music video fully crafted by Nigerian-based designer, Damola Rufai, using AI art to design the narrative and visuals. 2023 has been a pivotal moment in the artistic space due to the unorthodox usage of AI generated art, music, and works shaking up the industry.
“Intrigued by the potential of generative AI tech, I decided to partner with Nigerian-based designer, Damola Rufai to delve into uncharted territories and create something truly unique,” Nova explains. “I believe this collaboration represents the future of artistry, where human creativity and AI can coexist to produce breath-taking experiences.”
No matter where you fall on the spectrum, AI is here and it seems poised to stay and Nova is taking that first step to incorporate that artistry into his own music. Maybe this first step into the use of that tech by crosses the line (CTL), but Director Rufai explains that there were still a lot of human elements involved in the creation of this video.
“To achieve this, we used a collection of royalty free videos to storyboard and craft the narrative of the video we were aiming for,” he says. “Nova also filmed reference footage of himself on his iPhone which were used to capture his physical movements and reference environments that I could map A.I generated images that were more in line with the desired aesthetic and narrative we were trying to achieve.”
CTL‘s ground-breaking video focuses on exploring a romantic connection between a vampire, made in the image of Nova, and a woman. It’s set to release this Thursday, July 13th, 2023.

CTL, the single, was released across all streaming platforms on May 20th, 2022. It fuses elements of RnB, Hip-Hop, and Afrobeats with Nova’s melodic rap and was produced by Toya Aru.
